DAMTP Computer Accounts

New Members of the department

  • Apply for your department and University computer accounts.
  • If possible, please apply before you arrive.
  • It can take up to a week to process your application.
  • Our system notifies your group secretary when your accounts are ready.
  • Please collect your passwords from office B0.24.
  • Ask your group secretary, any member of staff you are working with or CMS reception to create a temporary "ticket" for the wifi network (staff link select tickets tab) for you to use until your IT accounts are live.
  • If you have not applied in advance and cannot get online to do so when you arrive, contact your group secretary for assistance.

Official Academic Visitors visiting DAMTP for over six months (includes visiting students)

  • Follow the instructions for members of the department above.
  • Email itaccounts@damtp.cam.ac.uk if your stay is extended.

All other visitors

Please use one of our laptop networks - wired or wireless.

  • Members of the university please connect using your Raven or Eduroam credentials
  • Non members of the university, if you have eduroam credentials please use them
  • Otherwise ask your group secretary for a ticket for the laptop network
  • If you will be here for seven days or fewer your host or CMS reception can also create your ticket.
  • Official visitors need to configure their laptops to use our printers.

We also have two PWF rooms which can be used outside teaching time. These contain dual boot windows / linux computers. Check with CMS reception for availability.

Should you find you need access to our research unix system, please contact your group secretary in the first instance.

Conference Delegates

  • Conference, course and workshop delegates should contact their conference organiser.
  • Conference and workshop organisers can apply online for the accounts they need for their delegates.
  • Group secretaries can create lapwing tickets for conferences.
