Departmental Email Lists
This document contains information on the lists generated from the departmental database.
DAMTP has departmental emailing lists available within damtp only. These are generated from the personnel database, so it is essential that you check you are listed on the correct lists, as an incorrect entry may imply you are incorrectly listed in the database.
Most importantly if you are not on the DAMTP List again damtp only access, or you entry is incorrect, office number, email address etc you must contact dbadmin@damtp to have this rectified.
Some of the most used include
damtp-all: All of damtp
cms-all : All of cms.
Both the above are to be used with care, please do not send large attachments (more than 1MB) to these lists and consider if what you have to say is of interest to the majority of recipients before sending it. If you do wish to distribute a large attachment please make it available on a website, then send the url in the mail.
We have a newsgroup ucam.cms.chat for posting articles of interest to people in CMS.
Each pavilion has its own list, in the form pav-x, where x is denotes the letter of your pavilion, as does each group, in the form all-groupname.
As the group lists are generated from the personnel records the webpage can only list you on your official group list. If you need to be on the mailing list for another grouplist, email the departmental computing helpdesk with the name of the additonal list and you may be placed on it.
