DAMTP Email Settings

1. If you are using Hermes, that is your damtp account was setup on or after the start of Michaelmas 2005.
   • See the computing service information on Mail Program Settings for Hermes
   • Details for setting up mail clients if you are away from Cambridge and wish to reach your Cambridge email.
2. If you are using the damtp email server, that is your account was setup before the start of Michaelmas Term 2005 and you haven't switched over to using Hermes for email
   • Please strongly consider moving to Hermes we will help you.
   • Outgoing Email: smtp.damtp.cam.ac.uk port: 25
   • Currently we don't have any smtp/ssl support so external users probably have to send out mail via their ISP's normal smtp relay or they can use Hermes (see above).
   • Incoming Email: You can find information on what incoming email settings you should have and how to change them on the Hermes email settings page. Subsitute imap.damtp.cam.ac.uk for imap.hermes.cam.ac.uk.
3. If you are sending email from a remote address, that is one that does not end in cam.ac.uk, and you are connected to the laptop network. Usually this only applies to departmental visitors.
