Step by Step Guide to Scanning a Picture
(simple method for photos only. with no control over resolution)
(For black and white text or line drawings, and more choices generally, use Paint Shop: follow this link.)
- Using a hpscanjet scanner, lift the scanner's lid and place your picture on the glass, face down, against the top right-hand corner.
- Double-click the "HP Director" icon on the desktop; select "scan picture":
- Then select "original from glass":
and click ok.
- "hpscanning" will then preview your picture.
- Click Accept if you are happy with this picture, with no changes required. The picture will then be scanned.
- If you only want part of the scanned picture, move the handles
on the edge of the preview until you are happy with the cropped preview.
- It will automatically be saved in the "scanned files" directory in C:\ as a .jpg file.
- The image can now be edited if required. See the web page 'Step-by-step guide to resizing & printing a photo onto an OHP' for more details.
- Don't forget to take the original picture from the scanner when you have finished.
