Step by Step Guide to Scanning Negatives and Slides

  1. Using the hpscanjet 3570c scanner, lift the scanner's lid and place your negatives or slides in the holder of the lid.

  2. Click the HP Director icon on the desktop, then "scan picture". Choose what you are scanning from the choice of options: original from glass, slides or negatives. In this example we are using negatives.

  3. Click scan and a preview of the bottom two negatives in the strip holder will be shown. Select which negative you want by moving the mouse over the negative to get cross-hairs, and click and drag to select the negative required.

  4. The selected negative will lighten in colour and have handles around its edge.

  5. Click accept. The negative will then be scanned and automatically saved in the "scanned files" directory in C:\ as a .jpg file.

  7. Don't forget to take the original negatives or slides from the scanner when you have finished.
