How to write Web Pages in DAMTP
Installed on the Departmental Windows pcs is a program called 1stPage 2000 or 1stPage 2006. You can find this program from the Start menu -> Programs -> Multimedia -> Evrsoft. 1stPage is a nice easy to use program that allows you to write in plain HTML (this isn't like Word that makes the web page code awful), you can view what the page will look like as you type the code using a split screen view. It has a very comprehensive help system along with some built in extra's like Javascript code if you should wish to use them. One nice feature is that you can load a web page that's 'live' (already viewable in a web browser, a page that is on the internet), you can edit it and view what it will look like before making the new version 'live'. This saves having to save the file to a temporary location, open a web browser, check the page, go back and make some changes, save again etc, etc.
1stPage 2006 is free to download for those who want to install it on their own pc.
