How to Change Your Passwords
DAMTP UNIX System Password (Linux / OSX)
- Using Gnome (Gnome is the default desktop when you log in): From the applications menu select DAMTP Apps followed by DAMTP password change
- Using [KDE:] From the main menu select DAMTP Apps followed by DAMTP password change
- MacOSX or via the command-line: Open a terminal/x-window and type in the command chpass
- From another computer. Use ssh to access a damtp computer you have access to. If you don't know the names of any connect to the computer called ssh.damtp.cam.ac.uk. Once you have logged in run the command chpass to change your password.
DAMTP Windows System Password
Login to a DAMTP Windows computer and use the key combination ctrl-alt-delete to bring up a dialogue window. Click on the button "Change Password".
To change your computing service passwords such as Email (Hermes), Raven (web) and Desktop Services
- Hermes (Email): Follow the instuctions given on Information Sheet 6. You will need to login to the webmail service.
- DS/MCS: Follow the instructions on Information Sheet 6.
- Raven: To change your Raven password visit the Raven account management page.
