Help with Laptop Problems

Sometimes an email may fail to send and you know you should be connected, or a connection may be dropped for no apparent reason, or you just can't connect even though you have done so many times without problem in the past.

If you have any problems with your laptop on the departmental laptop network please email laptop@damtp.ac.uk with a description of the problem and the information below.

  • What operating system is your laptop running - windows, macOS, or linux and what version. eg windows xp, macosX, Redhat 9.0?
  • Which port is your laptop connected to?
  • Which office and pavilion are you in?
  • What time and date the problem happened at?

  • What ip details did the laptop have when the problem occured
      Run the command below and email us the output
    • Windows: ipconfig /all
    • MacOSX: /sbin/ifconfig -a
    • Linux: /sbin/ifconfig -a
  • Which authentication method did you use - did you use the lauth icon or the authentication webpage?
  • Can you repeat the problem or is it a one off problem?
  • Did a reboot fix or change the problem?
