Known MacOSX problems on the laptop network

This page deals with known MacOSX problems on the laptop network and how to work around them.

If you are using the web browser safari change the bypass proxy setting from *.cam.ac.uk to .cam.ac.uk
If you use internet explorer and safari while using the laptop network then make sure you have both above settings listed as in

.cam.ac.uk
*.cam.ac.uk

in the bypass proxy settings box.

You may find that you cannot get X-forwarding to work with ssh. Use ssh -X to achieve this. Check the MacosX section for why.
