Anti Virus

It is important to keep your computer's anti-virus software up to date.

The University has a license for McAfee anti-virus products.

You can download VirusScan for Windows and Virex for Machintosh for free for use in the department, your college and home.

If you are running linux, please make sure that you apply the relevant patches. There is a local mirror for the more popular linux distributions.

For Windows users, you can install a DAMTP program that will keep your copy of VirusScan up to date when a network connection is available.  There are options that allow you to determine how ofter it should check for updates.
