Maple

We have an unlimited on site licence for Maple. We had fewer licences for earlier versions but those are no longer supported.

Home Use

Our Maple licence also includes home use for staff (academic, postdocs, academic related and assistant) - you can install Maple on your own computer.

Problems

  • If you are using fvwm, you may find that sometimes maple opens windows too far at the top of the screen. You have two choices:
    • Put up with it and move the window each time it happens by placing the mouse pointer over some visible part of the window, holding down Alt and the mouse's left button, and dragging the window to another location.
    • Tell maple on startup not to do this by starting it in a specified screen position. The following alias causes the initial placement of the window to be in the top left of the screen (for maple 9.5!):
        alias xmaple="perl -pi~ -e 's/SDIPosX.*$/SDIPosX=5/;s/SDIPosY.*$/SDIPosY=23/' ~/.maple9.5rc; xmaple95"

Place this alias in your .bashrc file. Next time you log in the xmaple command will start in the top left of the screen.
