How to print a dvi file single sided

dvips defaults to double sided (duplex) printing. Below is an example of how to print a file called test.dvi single sided. There are two ways.

  • Use the kprinter program

            dvips test.dvi -o '|kprinter'

Once the kprinter box appears, select properties in order to set the options you need. Kprinter offers a drop down menu to select the name of the printer.
  • Use the command line option for one sided

            dvips test.dvi -o '|lpr -o sides=one-sided'

To specify a printer name eg galaxy use -P
            dvips test.dvi -o '|lpr -Pgalaxy -o sides=one-sided'
