X forwarding
To configure your ssh client to use X forwarding, or to be able to run X applications through your ssh connection.
- From Windows using Putty
- In the left-hand pane of putty, click on the "+" sign to the left of Connection
- Then the "+"sign before SSH
- Next click on Tunnels
- Make sure Enable X11 forwarding is checked
- On Unix, Linux and MacOSX (with the command ssh), you may need to use ssh -X, to enable X forwarding. Newer versions of openssh changed the meaning of -X so with those you may need to use -Y instead.
