Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics

Applications are invited for the exciting new role of Senior Research Grants Co-ordinator to join the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. The Department holds around 150 active research grants, with a total value of £67 million.
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to work as part of a small team of 4 overseeing finance and grants in the Department. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a close working relationship with PI's, Departmental Staff and the Research Operations Office to ensure a smooth management of all processes and compliance with necessary regulations. The post holder will provide a comprehensive and efficient research grant management service to the Department through every stage of the grant management process to ensure effective management of all research grant activity under the management of the Finance Manager. They will be expected to assist with the audit process and assist to maximise future funding opportunities.

The role holder will report to the Finance Manager and will line manage a part time Research Grants Assistant.

This is a varied post which requires excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, alongside the ability to prioritise and to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also required, as well as a proactive approach to problem solving.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level/Level 6 vocational Qualifications or have an equivalent level of practical experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of Research Grants Administration involving a critical understanding of relevant theory and/or principles. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office are also essential.
