Fill Bounded Region
Fill Bounded Region
This option allows a region of one image, bounded by some known intensity
contour, to be filled with a constant intensity. buffer. This option is
very similar to [D Duplicate bounded region] except that a region of an
image is set to a constant intensity rather than filled with some other
image.
Cursor Positioning: Locate cursor inside region to be filled
The desired region is specified through a combination of locating a single
point within the region, and specifying the intensity of the bounding
contour. To locate the start point, the normal cursor submenu is invoked.
For more details on the operation of the cursor, see the [H Help] option
within the submenu. Note the chosen start point should not have an
intensity equal to that of the region boundary.
Intensity for edge of region ?
The edge of the region is defined by some intensity level. All pixels lying
on the same side of the bounding intensity level as the starting point, and
which are connected to the starting point by similar pixels, will be
included in the region.
Search 4 or 8 nearest neighbours ?
This choice determines the degree of connectivity required in defining the
region. As each new pixel is added to the region, the routine searches
around its four (<4>) or eight (<8>) nearest neighbours to determine if
there are any further pixels to be added to the region.
Use what intensity ?
This entry specifies the intensity with which the region is to be filled.
The value specified may be used in a number of ways.
Set, And, Or or Xor intensity ?
This choice specifies how the intensity specified above is to be used. It
may set (<S>) the pixel intensity or be used as a mask in a logical AND
(<A>), OR (<O>) or eXclusive OR (<X>) operation on the intensity already
there.
Window Selection: Bounding window for filling
The window selection submenu is produced to specify an outer bound on the
region in which the filling is confined. The filling is confined to the
intersection between the region satisfying the threshold criterion and the
window specified by the window selection submenu. For more information on
window specification, consult the [H Help] option within the submenu.
