RMS Average of Buffers
RMS Average of Buffers
The purpose of this facility is to enable DigImage to produce full
resolution averages of an ensemble of frames. The average is an RMS average
relative to some user-specified zero point. In contrast [A Average of
frames] produces a simple arithmetic mean average. The ensemble of frames
may be obtained from different realisations of an experiment, or from
different stages in the same experiment.
Average including what buffer ?
Any DigImage buffer may be included in the average, and each buffer may be
included more than once if required.
Another buffer ?
Answering yes (<Y>) allows a further buffer to be added to the
list to average over, while no (<N>) indicates that all the
required buffers have been added to the list.
Buffer to place average in ?
The average may be placed in an buffer, including one of the buffers which
is included in the average list. This buffer is made the current output
buffer during the averaging process.
Use what intensity as "zero" value ?
This entry specifies what intensity value the rms average is to be
calculated around. The value specified here is subtracted from the
intensity value before squaring and summing.
Average Window or whole Screen ?
The average may be computed of either a window within each frame buffer
(<W>) or using the entire contents of each buffer (<S>).
Window Selection: Region to calculate average of
If the response to the previous question specifies a window to be used, the
window selection submenu is produced (using the first buffer in the list)
to allow the desired window to be selected. Additional information on the
window selection process may be found in [H Help] within the submenu.
