Determine the coordinates of a point

Determine the coordinates of a point

This option provides entry to the cursor submenu as a method of checking the coordinate mappings and locating specific features within an image. As an option the coordinates (in all four coordinate systems) of the points located may be written to a file.

Locate points on which buffer ?

The cursor can be used to investigate any valid buffer. The buffer specified is made the current output buffer. If the buffer specified is offboard, then it is copied to buffer 0 before activating the cursor.

Save coordinates to what file (blank to suppress) ?

A file to which the intensity and coordinates of the points is saved may be specified. If no file name is given, then this information is not written. The file contains:

inten icp jcp irp jrp xcw ycw xrw yrw radius radians degrees

where inten is the intensity of the pixel, icp,jcp are the current pixel coordinates, irp,jrp the reference pixel coordinates, xcw,ycw the current world coordinates and xrw,yrw the reference world coordinates. The coordinates are also given as a radius (in world units) with the angle expressed in both radians and degrees.

New or Append ? This option is always given (for consistency), even though it only has an effect of a file of the specified name already exists. If the New option is specified, then any previous file contents will be lost. If the Append option is invoked, then the new data will be appended to the end of the file, not altering the current file contents.

Cursor Positioning: Look at any point

The DigImage cursor is used to investigate particular points and the coordinate systems. Further information on the use of the cursor is available from the H help option within the cursor submenu.

Another point ?

Answering yes (<Y>) to this question will return control to the cursor submenu, allowing a further point to be investigated. Its intensity and coordinates will be appended to the file previously specified. An answer of no (<N>) returns control to the parent submenu.
