7 Other Software

This section describes briefly issues relating to the installation of other software which may be of use in conjunction with DigImage.

7.1 GHOSTVIEW

GhostView is a freeware product providing the ability to see PostScript output on-screen and convert PostScript to a range of other printer languages, thus broadening the range of possible printers for use with DigImage. GhostView itself is readily available for download over the web ( http://www.cs.wisc.edu/ ~ghost/) and should be installed in the normal manner.

While most of DigImage is not aware of the existence of GhostView, GhostView may still be used for viewing the PostScript (.ps or .eps) files produced by DigImage. However, if the DigiGV method of starting DigiPlot is to be used (see the DigiPlot User Guide for details), then either GhostView must be accessible from the system search PATH (if it is then typing GSVIEW32 at a command prompt will start GhostView), or the file DigImage\Bin\GSView32.BAT needs to be altered to point to GhostView.

7.2 ADOBE ACROBAT READER

The DigImage user guides are provided in three formats: PostScript, HTML and Adobe Acrobat. The last of these replicates the PostScript version in a more compact file, provides for on-screen viewing and more control over printing.

Acrobat Reader is widely available over the web for free download. No special action is required during installation.
