9. Utilities

In this section we outline some of the basic utilities supplied to help maintain and use DigImage.

9.1 CONFIGUR

The configuration utility Configur.EXE may be found in the directory %DIGIMAGE%\LUTs. The utility is designed to set up and alter the configuration of DigImage, specifies the addresses for the frame grabber and extended memory buffers, screen colours, baud rate for communication with the VTR, video system (PAL or NTSC), etc. For details on the operation, consult the installation documentation. Note that the output of Configur.EXE is the file Configur.DIG which is accessed by all DigImage modules and most utilities upon start up. If there is a file by this name in the current directory, then it will be used, otherwise the copy found in %DIGIMAGE%\LUTs will be used. In this way it is possible to have more than set up at any one time.

9.2 DIGIFILE

The purpose of the DigiFile utility is to convert DigImage image files between the variety of different file formats used by DigImage and other programs and printers. In particular, DigiFile can convert images to and from Windows 3.x .BMP bit map files, PaintJet XL and PaintJet XL300 printer files, and PostScript files. Complete details of DigiFile may be found in the DigiFile Users Guide.

9.3 DIGIPLOT

DigiPlot is provided with DigImage as a flexible, convenient method of plotting simple data on a number of different devices. While DigiPlot is a stand-alone utility not requiring either DigImage nor a frame grabber card, many of the same features are accessible through the DigImage option [;DCR Read plot data from file]. Complete details on the use of DigiPlot may be found in the DigiPlot Users Guide.

9.4 PRINTJET

This utility is designed to send a PaintJet screen dump (produced by [;DP Dump the screen to PaintJet printer file]) to the PaintJet printer. This utility effectively accesses a subset of the facilities available in the DigiFile utility. The utility is invoked by

C:\..>PRINTJET file_name [/NF]

If no extension is given, then PrintJet will assume .JET. The optional /NF switch suppresses the form feed at the end of the file, thus allowing more than one file to be printed on the same page. Full documentation may be found in the DigiFile Users Guide.

9.5 TRK2DVEL

This utility is used to analyse particle path data produced by the particle tracking system within DigImage. The utility is a stand alone package with many features in common with DigImage. Many of its facilities may be used even when a frame grabber is not installed, enabling processing to be undertaken on a different computer to the tracking process. The utility may be started by

C:\..>TRK2DVEL [/CF command_file]

where the optional /CF switch invokes the specified command file. The command files follow the same structure and rules as DigImage. For further details on this utility, consult the extensive <f1> help facility within it and the particle tracking documentation.
