Mr Leo Middleton

Career

  • 2013 - 2017: Msci in Mathematics with a Year Abroad, University Colllege London (one year spent at University of British Columbia, Vancouver).   
  • 2017- Present:  PhD at DAMTP, partnered with the British Antarctic Survey. Supervised by Dr. John R. Taylor at DAMTP, and co-supervised by Paul Holland at BAS.

Research

Leo is a member of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, and also a member of the British Antarctic Survey. He is part of the Dynamical Meteorology & Oceanography research group at DAMTP, and the Polar Oceans group at BAS. His current research interests are looking at numerical simulations as well as observational data of the Antarctic Ice Sheet-Ocean Boundary Layer. Past research interests include thermally-forced vortices and their role in deep water formation as well as the study of large systems of point vortices.
