If you use Word 2007, to save a pdf you need to install a Microsoft add-in:
If you use Word 2003, a third party tool like
would need to be installed.
If you have a full version of Adobe Acrobat installed, this can be used to produce pdf's from within Word, Excel etc using the Adobe add-in. (This add-in should have been installed into Office when Acrobat was installed.)
