A little about me...
I'm currently a research fellow at DAMTP, where I work in the area of applied analysis. Before this, I was a PhD student working under the supervision of Prof A.S Fokas. My main interests lie in the analysis of PDEs, rigorous problems in hydrodynamics, infinite dimensional Hamiltonian systems and Lie group methods in PDEs.
Aside from the maths, I'm your average 20 something year old. I live just outside Cambridge with my wife and our young Weimaraner. I'm originally from Rhyl in North Wales, which is where the majority of my family are.

Research Statements and Junior Research Fellowships
In the long and laborious process of applying for research fellowships, you will probably need to write a research statement. The classic line is "in no more than X words, give a statement outlining your current and proposed research, intelligible to scholars outside your field". X is usually between 1,000 and 1,500. You can have a look at some of my examples:
- Here is a non-technical statement of around 1,000 words.
- Here is a slightly more technical statement of around 600 words.
- Here is a technical statement to an expert in my field, describing where my research lies in relation to the field of PDEs.
These worked for me, so hopefully they will be of some use to others.
