Arthur Kaletzky's bits and pieces, DAMTP Polar Ocean Physics Group

Here's the cruise report from my last cruise, JR106N, Greenland Sea, AUG2004.
This is part of the AUTOSUB Under Ice project.

Here's a recent paper: (in Waves in Random Media): AN ACOUSTIC SHADOWGRAPH TRIAL TO DETECT CONVECTION IN THE ARCTIC
and a related presentation concerned with the technical details of the shadowgraph equipment: Oceanology2004 shadowgraph slides
This was part of the CONVECTION project. The acoustic shadowgraph was redeployed for one year from July 2004 in the Greenland Gyre, approx. 75N 01W, on RV Polarstern's cruise ARK XX/1. Many thanks to AWI for the ship time and to the Northern Seas project for additional financial support.

Here are a few underice sound transmission plots produced by the RD_OASES model from MIT:
20 Hz propagation
30 Hz propagation
40 Hz propagation

I did this work as part of the AMOC project

Other work:
Here are the track and speed profile of the orby10 buoy in the Greenland Sea (very much preliminary, haven't been checked by anyone). I hope the wave spectra will be available soon, too.
