I am a member of the Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics and Nonlinear Dynamics group. My research interests lie broadly in applied dynamical systems, symmetric dynamics and emergent behaviour. Currently I am working on pattern formation and localized states in systems with a discrete spatial structure, with particular applications in nonlinear optics and developmental biology.
Recently submitted: Snaking and isolas of localized states in bistable discrete lattices.
Upcoming:
Since 2007 I have been involved with Guerilla Science, an outreach project bringing science to music festivals in the UK. There's a good review of one of the 2009 events here.
See talks for a list of my past talks.
See teaching for examples sheets, advice and revision materials.
