- 2007-2010 Gates Cambridge Scholar at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) and King's College, University of Cambridge
- 2007-2010 Member of the Environmental and Industrial Fluid Dynamics Group, DAMTP
- 2006-2010 Member of the Institute of Theoretical Geophysics, DAMTP
I defended my PhD thesis in August 2010 and moved to New York City. My new homepage is available here.
Research
My research is motivated by a range of applications of fluid dynamics.
- Geophysics: Predicting lava flows on volcanoes, rockfalls, snow avalanches
- Engineering: Coating thin films on substrates, manufacturing glass
- Biology: Understanding peristaltic transport of a swallowed bolus
- Lifestyle: Emptying bottles of salad dressing, squeezing tubes of toothpaste
I use mathematics and conduct laboratory experiments to obtain equations, which describe the motion of flowing materials in different situations.
