Book displays and computer facilities: These facilities are located in the IMA main offices (400 Lind Hall, 207 Church Street). Lind Hall is immediately adjacent to the EE/CS Building.

Bookstore: University Bookstore, 190 Williamson Hall, 231 Pillsbury Drive (612-625-6000). Summer Term Hours: Monday through Friday (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Check Cashing:
1) University of Minnesota checks can be cashed at the Bursar's Office in Williamson Hall, on the same level as the bookstore, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at a cost of 50 cents.
2) Any Wells Fargo (see phone book for locations)

Computer accounts:
The staff of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) will provide e-mail/Internet access and computer accounts to FoCM'02 participants. Workstations in 400 Lind Hall, will be available for use from 8 AM to 4:30 PM during the conference sessions. In order to get an account established initially, you need to bring a picture ID and proof of conference registration to 400 Lind Hall.

Directions to Centennial Hall:
From I-94, take the U of M exit (just east of the Mississippi River). The exit turns into Huron Boulevard. Turn left at first stoplight to Fulton Avenue. Go two stoplights on Fulton, and turn right on Oak Street. Go two blocks to the next stoplight (Delaware Street). Turn left on Delaware, go one block and turn left again into the metered parking area between Centennial and Territorial Halls, where limited loading/unloading space is available.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is ten miles south of the University of Minnesota Campus. To reach the campus from the airport, take a taxi or contact a shuttle service (Super Shuttle) at the airport.

Dorm address and check-in:
if you are a FoCM'02 participant that has registered for dormitory accommodations, you will be staying in Centennial Hall, 614 Delaware Street. SE, Minneapolis. Check into your room in the lobby of the hall, at which time you will receive your keys to the building, your room, and meal card. The desk is staffed from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.  If you arrive after hours, please contact the Security Monitor on duty to check in.  A telephone and telephone number will be posted at the dorm information desk for you to contact the Security Monitor.

Emergency:
Dial 911 in an emergency, both on the U of MN campus phone system and the regular public phone system. This number should be used in any emergency for the quickest response from police, fire department, or an ambulance.

Medical Emergencies:
Check your medical insurance before an emergency to determine which hospital you should go to. An option on the University of Minnesota campus is the emergency room at the University Hospital. It is located at the corner of Harvard St. S.E. and East River Road. (They do have adjacent parking.) If the hospital does not take your insurance they will bill you for their services.

Parking:
Daily parking is available at the Washington Avenue Ramp, the Oak Street Ramp, and the Church Garage for $2.25/hour.  Surface lot parking is available at the Huron Boulevard Parking Complex for $3.00/day.  If you are staying at the Radisson Hotel Metrodome and need parking, speak with the hotel directly.

Plenary sessions:
These morning sessions will be held at 9:30 and 11:00 in room 150 of the Tate Laboratory of Physics, 116 Church Street, a block from the EE/CS Building.

Registration:
The registration/information desk EE/CS 3-176 (ground floor) of the Electrical Engineering/Computer Science Building (200 Union Street) will be open 8:00 am - 4:00 pm every day during the meeting, except Sunday. There will be a coffee break at this location 3:30-4:00 pm each day.

Rooms for workshop talks:
The various workshop talks will be held in rooms EECS 3-180, 3-230, 3-210, 3-111, 3-115, Amundson B-75, all entered through the EE/CS building. (The exact assignments of workshops is listed on the schedule. All of these rooms are air-conditioned. White boards and overhead projectors are standard. Speakers need to request facilities for laptop and other computer projection, etc., through the workshop organizers.) 

Schedule:

Social events:
There will be three banquets, one associated with each three-day conference segment, on the evenings of August 7, 9 and 12. There will be a Sunday, August 11 `brunch and lock' cruise aboard one of the riverboats of the Padelford Boat Company. You must sign up at the Registration desk for each of these events, if you haven't already done so on line.
