The term of office of all FoCM committees is from one FoCM conference to the next. In practice this means two-three years.

FoCM has the following three-tier structure. The day-to-day affairs are being managed by the FoCM Executive Committee. As of August 2005, the Executive Committee comprises of

The role of FoCM Council is to elect the Board of Directors and to act as the definitive forum for major decisions. The Council comprises:

1. Members of editorial and advisory boards of FoCM publications;
2. Members of the FoCM'08 Organizing Committee;
3. Members of the FoCM'05 Organizing Committee;
4. Workshop organisers at FoCM'05 and FoCM'08;
5. Other individuals, who may be coopted by the BoD from time to time.

as well as members of the Board of Directors.
