IMU-CDC grant

The International Mathematical Union's Commission for Developing Countries (IMU-CDC) awarded $2000 for FoCM'11, which will be matched by the Society of FoCM by another $2000.

The purpose of these funds is to support the participation of people from developing countries, in particular students and unsupported young researchers. IMU-CDC defines a country "developing" if its gross national income per capita is under $7000. You can find a table here where the first column (Atlas Methodology) is what IMU-CDC uses to determine which countries are eligible. Note that some borderline countries can be considered as well.

We are planning to reimburse the registration fees (200 euros) of eligible participants.

If you are interested in applying to this fund, or know someone eligible whom you would like to nominate, please contact us before May 1st, 2011, by writing an email to aszanto(at)ncsu.edu.

NSF Conference Grant

We are awarded an NSF grant to partially support the travel expenses of student and postdoc participants of FoCM'11. These funds are restricted to US citizens/permanent residents or those who work/study at a US institution. We anticipate that we can reimburse up to $1700 for each of two eligible participants from each workshop.

These funds can partially cover airfare only if it complies with the Fly America Act*. The funds can also be used for hotel expenses, registration fees or per diem, up to the $1700 limit.

Application for this grant is CLOSED.

*Any air transportation to, from, between, or within a country other than the U.S. of persons or property, the expense of which will be assisted by NSF funding, must be performed by or under a code-sharing arrangement with a U.S.-flag air carrier if service provided by such a carrier is available".
