The standard route toward doctoral studies in Numerical Analysis in Cambridge is through Cambridge Centre for Analysis, the Cambridge Graduate School in Mathematical Analysis. Having said so, if you are interested to study in the general area of numerical analysis, computational mathematics or scientific computing, it is a good idea to contact first relevant academic personnel of our group who may act as potential PhD supervisors, both to inform yourself about the range of possible subject areas for a dissertation and to ascertain whether your background, preparation and interests are in line with our requirements.

We have each year large number of expressions of interest from potential students, while our resources are necessarily limited. This is yet another reason to check with us informally before you make a formal application to the Board of Graduate Studies.
