INTERFACIAL INTRUSION
INTERFACIAL INTRUSION
Interfacial intrusion: a ‘non- symmetric’ intrusion on a sharp interface between two layers of equal depth.
The density of the intrusion is greater than the mean of the densities of the two layers and the interface is displaced upwards ahead of the intrusion.
For a discussion of the dynamics of intrusions and the role of the interfacial displacement see Ref 109
