Research Interests
I am currently studying dynamics of the solar interior. Specifically,
- The dynamics of the solar tachocline -- angular momentum balance at the interface of the convection zone and radiative interior.
- How this balance can be sustained by a confined internal magnetic field.
- The dynamical processes that bring about this magnetic confinement.
I am also interested in
- Turbulent atmospheric dynamics -- the various angular transport mechanisms present in the Earth's middle atmosphere, and in the atmospheres of other astronomical objects.
- Coupling of plasma effects to atmospheric processes -- the role of magnetic fields in modifying large-scale dynamical mechanisms within atmospheres and gaseous interiors.
- Instabilities in magnetic fields and dynamo processes.
