Research Interests
I am an Assistant Professor of Climate & Environmental Fluid Dynamics in the Department of Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics, jointly with the Department of Earth Sciences.
My research interests span a wide range of topics, mostly involving the physics of planetary habitability and climate, in both Earth and space settings. Some recent research includes ice-ocean interactions in Earth's polar regions, relevant to climate change, as well as on the Solar System's ice-covered moons, relevant to the search for life. Some other interests include the physical processes giving rise to homochirality (related to the origins of life), as well as environmental/ocean mixing and wave phenomena. My group uses theoretical, observational, data-driven, and sometimes experimental methods, and collaborates with researchers across a range of fields.
