Department of Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics
There is information about study in the faculty of Mathematics on the DAMTP home page.
There are not really any courses on what we do in the undergraduate Tripos, although the Mathematical Methods and Continuum Mechanics courses are relevant. The Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics (aka Part III) usually offers courses related to our work. In recent years, members of the Waves Group have given courses (or parts of courses) entitled Acoustics, Shocks and Solitons, Waves and Stability, Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics and Computational Methods in Fluid Dynamics.
We normally take one or two new research students each year. They would usually have a first class undergraduate degree in mathematics, physics or engineering, and usually take Part III, although Part III may not be strictly necessary.
We have a list of suggested Ph.D. projects, or if these don't appeal why not email Nigel Peake, Mark Spivack or Nikos Nikiforakis to see if they have anything else lined up?
Postdoctoral positions will be advertised here as and when they become available, but you might like to contact Nigel Peake, Mark Spivack or Nikos Nikiforakis to see if anything can be arranged.
Comments & suggestions, e-mail Adrian Lloyd.
