Surface deformation is the result of several competing physical processes, including, for example, volcanism, tectonics, and hydrology. After briefly describing how we can tease the deformation associated with each of these physical mechanisms out of the observations, I will focus on the hydrological component, comparing it with existing environmental data. I will show case studies from different regions around the world, providing some insights on how this information can be useful to study aquifer properties, water management, and glacial retreat.
