Recently, TRACE
(Lenz et al., [1999]),
Aschwanden et al., [2000]; Chae et al., [2002];
Testa et al., [2002])
and SOHO/EIT (Aschwanden et al., [1999]; Neupert et al., [1998])
focussed on 1 MK loops.
- nearly flat temperature profiles along the length of the loops,
with T @ 1.3 MK.

nearly flat but high emission measures
-
results are in stark contrast with predictions of
hydrostatic models
Intense debate on the subject
Reale & Peres, [2000]; Aschwanden, [2002];
Martens et al., [2002]; Schmelz, [2002]).
I have re-analysed the TRACE and CDS data and found:
- Background-foreground emission has been
neglected or treated improperly in all cases.

Loop densities and temperatures were overestimated.

TRACE and CDS observations were of different types
of loops, no comparison is possible.
