Assistant Research Professor at Cambridge Image Analysis (CIA) group, and lead of Computational Applied Tomography (CAT) group.

I am a translational researcher focusing on mathematics and applications of imaging, particularly in tomography. I have worked mostly on medical and scientific Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), general CT, and Positron Emission Tomography. I have also done some research on Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) and Fermi Tomography, among others. My research efforts are equally divided on:

  • Developing mathematical optimization algorithms (both machine learning based and traditional optimization) for inverse problems in tomography (applied maths).

  • Developing computational methods, high performance computing solutions, machine learning models and software packages for the algorithms above (computer science).

  • Applying these methods into real datasets and applications of tomography, and proposing novel uses of tomography enabled by the previous two points (applied science & medicine).

I am the main author and maintainer of TIGRE toolbox  (easy to use and fast optimization algorithms for real CT) and currently I am developing the LION toolbox (reproducible and reliable data-driven tomographic reconstruction methods).

I do supervise and co-supervise MPhil and PhD students across the University, don't hesitate to reach out if you think my research experience can be useful.
