Research

I am a theoretical astrophysicist and a member of the Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics research group. My research interests are mainly in astrophysical fluid dynamics, particularly as applied to accretion disks (of all shapes and sizes!). I am currently working on the dynamics of distorted disks (warped, eccentric, and tidally distorted). From 2020 to 2023 I worked as a postdoc in the Computational Relativistic Astrophysics Group at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute), where my research focused on disks that form from binary neutron star mergers. During my PhD I investigated convection in disks and the interaction of convection and the magnetorotational instability (MRI), with applications mainly to Dwarf Novae. I also have a long standing interest in turbulence, both homogeneous and isotropic, and also subject to various body forces (e.g. MHD turbulence, convective turbulence, turbulence in rotating media, etc.).
